Matias Gómez-Sáenz

Bio:

Interested in the performance of both modern and early music, Matías Gómez-Sáenz is a musician who works between historical keyboards and modern piano. He began his piano studies at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City in the class of maestro Farizat Tchibirova. Later he entered the Utrecht Conservatory in The Netherlands, as a student in the class of Klára Würtz in modern piano and with Artem Belogurov in fortepiano. He has attended masterclasses with Alexander Gavriliuk, Peter Donohoe, Alexander Pashkov, Andreas Frölich and Menno van Delft. In he was selected to perform at the Grachten Festival, which is held annually in the city of Amsterdam and to play at the Concertgebouw van Amsterdam. In 2023 he participated in the Summer Academy at the Mozarteum, Salzburg. He has performed on various stages such as the Spoorweg Museum, Tivoli Vredemburg, Hertz Zaal and Bernard Haitinkzaal. He has also been invited to give a recital at the Oude Muziek Festival in the city of Utrecht in the 2024 edition. He has performed in several venues in Mexico such as the MUNAL (National Museum of Art) and the Jaime Torres Bodet Auditorium of the Museum of Anthropology, the Silvestre Revueltas Auditorium and the San Pedro Auditorium, and in sala Blás Galindo in the festival En Blanco y Negro, among others. He is currently studying a master’s degree in Fortepiano at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Olga Pashchenko.
